Slowly but surely, we got through marking chapter one of Seven Habits. The poster work may go better if we try a walk on Thursday (and it should be nice out). Are people getting more comfortable with the new reading program? Hope so.

Objectives: make predictions; outline a text (highlight/mark up)
Activities: prediction activity; marking up a text
HWK: read/mark up Seven Habits chapter; jot down five vocabulary words from reading
The prediction exercise was trickier than I'd thought--I might revise that before we do it again. Am not sure how the class will do with the Seven Habits chapter given that almost everyone left the articles in their folders... Maybe next week we'll have time for class groups to draft proposals on the incentive project.

Objectives: Learn class expectations; take pre-test; read library books
Activities: Rubric; begin unit 1; begin reading project
HWK: None!
We're done with the rubric for now, though I will return to catch points that I didn't before. AT's idea about a movie incentive is very appealing; I wonder if anyone in class owns Congo or Anchorman (I don't). I have a lot planned for Friday, probably more than we can accomplish. We'll see!

Activities: Define and practice rubric skills; go to the library

So far, so good! This is an interesting class, lots of personality. The library trip went smoothly, and everyone should be ready to get started. Please remember to bring your library book to class; I'll start giving reading time.

Activities: take notes on the rubric; practice skills from the rubric
HWK: none!
It was fun to see everyone again. I'm really glad this is a small class; those can be more fun. It looks like we'll have a para, and I'm happy to have help in the room. Doing the book lists might be a little tricky on Monday; we'll see how that goes.
